By train
Jhelum sits on the main Lahore–Peshawar railway line, one of the busiest routes in Pakistan, so there is no shortage of services. Express trains from Lahore take roughly 2.5 to 3 hours; from Rawalpindi the journey is around 1.5 hours. The Jhelum railway station is centrally located and easy to reach from most parts of town. Check the Pakistan Railways website or ask at the station for current timetables — services are frequent but timekeeping is variable.
By road
The M2 motorway connects Lahore to Islamabad and passes close to Jhelum, placing the city about 160 km from Lahore and 120 km from Rawalpindi. Journey times are roughly 2 hours from Lahore and 1.5 hours from Rawalpindi by motorway. The older Grand Trunk Road (GT Road, N5) also runs through Jhelum and is served by frequent minibuses and coaches from both directions. Fares are cheap and departures are constant throughout the day; ask at the bus stand for the next service to your destination.
