Malika Parbat

Malika Parbat — "Queen Mountain" in Urdu — rises to 5,290 metres and is the highest peak in the Kaghan Valley area. It dominates the skyline from Naran and is most dramatically framed when reflected in the glacial waters of Lake Saiful Muluk directly below its southern face. The mountain is considered among the most accessible serious climbs in Pakistan for experienced mountaineers, though it still requires proper acclimatisation, technical gear, and ideally a guide from Naran.

For non-climbers, Malika Parbat is best appreciated as the visual anchor of the upper valley — the peak that makes the Lake Saiful Muluk view so arresting. At dawn, when the early light hits the snowfields above a lake that is still dark and cold, the mountain gives the scene a scale that the photographs never quite capture. The name "Malika" is associated with the fairy princess of the Saiful Muluk legend; the mountain and the lake are part of the same story in local tradition.
