The mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, is the city's defining landmark — a large white marble structure with a distinctive copper dome, set in formal gardens in the centre of Karachi. The interior contains Jinnah's sarcophagus and a small museum of his personal belongings.
