Alhamra is Lahore's main performing-arts complex — a striking red-brick brutalist building designed by Nayyar Ali Dada and completed in 1992, with three theatres, an open-air auditorium, and exhibition galleries. The Mall-facing facade, with its geometric cut-outs, is one of the more interesting pieces of post-independence Lahore architecture.
The performance schedule covers Urdu-language theatre, classical music, qawwali, and Pakistani film festivals. Check listings before visiting; even outside performance hours the grounds and galleries are usually accessible.
