Bagh-e-Jinnah — formerly Lawrence Gardens — is the city's main public park, 141 acres laid out by the British in 1862 around the Lawrence and Montgomery Halls. It contains a botanical garden, a cricket ground (the Lahore Gymkhana), a public library, and the Quaid-e-Azam Library housed in the original Lawrence Hall.
The park is at its best on winter mornings when the air is clear, on weekend afternoons when families picnic on the lawns, and during the spring flower exhibition (usually March). Free entry; closed dawn to about 11 p.m.
