Kashmiri Gate

The northern gate of the Walled City — originally called the Akbari Gate, renamed Kashmiri Gate during the Sikh period because the road from here led toward Kashmir. The current structure is largely 19th-century but follows the line of the Mughal original.

Inside the gate is the busy Kashmiri Bazaar, one of the more atmospheric stretches of the old city, with brass-shop alleys, sari emporia, and the Begum Shahi Mosque a short walk inside. A good entry point into the Walled City for travellers coming from the fort end.
