When to Go

Rawalpindi has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and cool winters. The best time to visit is October through March, when temperatures are comfortable — typically 10–25°C — and outdoor exploration of the bazaars and old city is pleasant. Winter nights can be cold, occasionally dropping close to freezing, but daytime conditions are generally fine.

April and May warm up quickly, and from June through September the combination of heat and monsoon humidity makes extended walking in the bazaars uncomfortable. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 38°C. The monsoon brings occasional heavy rain and some flooding in low-lying areas. If you have no choice but to visit in summer, early mornings are the best time for outdoor activity, and the air-conditioned section of a good restaurant in Saddar at midday is not a bad option.
