Khanpur Cave is a small archaeological site in the Taxila area, known for evidence of Mesolithic occupation. Finds from the cave include microlithic tools, showing that people lived in this landscape long before the Buddhist cities and monasteries that made Taxila famous.
The cave is modest compared with Taxila's major ruins, but it adds useful depth for visitors following the region's long history from prehistory through the Gandharan period.
