The classic continuation from Banaue is north to Sagada in Mountain Province — three or four hours by jeepney via Bontoc, climbing over Mount Polis at 1,900 metres. The road is one of the great mountain drives of southeast Asia, with views across the whole Cordillera on a clear day. Sagada itself has hanging coffins, limestone caves, and a cool pine-forest setting that is a complete change from the Banaue terraces. It is technically more than a day trip — most people stay two nights — but easy to combine with Banaue in a single journey.
Closer to home, the Hapao terraces in Hungduan municipality are a good half-day or full day, and Bangaan can be added on the way to Batad.
