The terraces are at their most photogenic in the planting and harvest seasons — February to March, when the paddies are flooded and reflect the sky, and June to July, when the rice is brilliant green. Between October and December the terraces are brown and the views are less dramatic, though the air is cooler and clearer.
The wet season runs roughly from June to September, when afternoon rain is common and trails can be slippery. Typhoons sometimes affect Luzon in this period and can shut down the road from Manila for a day or two. December and January are cool and often clear; nights at 1,500 metres can drop close to 10°C, so bring something warm.
