Jeepneys are the cheapest way to get around — they run fixed routes for a few pesos a ride. The routes can be confusing for newcomers, but downtown to Ayala Center and Colon to SM City are well-served. Grab (the Southeast Asian equivalent of Uber) is convenient and air-conditioned; this is what most visitors use. Standard taxis are metered but drivers sometimes refuse the meter — agree on a price before getting in.
Habal-habal (motorcycle taxis) are used for short hops and in areas where jeepneys don't go. For the Mactan beaches and airport, a Grab car is the easiest option.
