Things to Do

Marinduque rewards slow travel. The island's highlights are spread around its coast and interior, and the best way to see them is by renting a motorbike and setting your own pace. The Moriones Festival during Holy Week is reason enough to visit in April; for the rest of the year the main draws are the caves near Boac, the islands off the southern coast, and a handful of beaches that see almost no traffic outside the festival week.

The Tres Reyes Islands — Gaspar, Melchor, and Baltazar — are the island's best natural highlight. The surrounding reefs are in good condition and the beaches on Gaspar in particular are empty and beautiful. Mount Malindig in the south offers a serious hike to the island's highest point, with views stretching across to Mindoro and Quezon Province on a clear day.
