Things to Do in Sogod

Sogod is not a tourist town and should not be treated as one. There are no dedicated attractions in the sense of museums or organised sights. What the town offers is access to the wider Southern Leyte environment: the rivers, the bay, and the mountains that line the island's interior.

The Subangdaku River is the main natural feature near the town and offers some freshwater swimming. The town market, running every morning near the bus terminal, is a good place to buy local produce — fresh fish from the bay, vegetables from the interior, and the sweet dried fish that Southern Leyte is known for.

Sogod Bay to the west is worth exploring for those with a diving or snorkelling interest — the bay is less visited than other Philippine dive areas and the coral cover in parts is excellent.
