Getting There

Tagaytay is about 55 km south of Manila. By car, take the South Luzon Expressway to Silang/Tagaytay exit; the drive takes 1–2 hours depending on Manila traffic. The worst time to leave is Friday afternoon when every car in the metro heads south simultaneously; Saturday morning is only marginally better. Leaving on a Sunday evening is similarly congested.

There is no direct bus service. Public buses from Manila (Pasay or Cubao terminals) run to Carmona or Silang, from where jeepneys go up to the ridge, but this is slow and inconvenient for most visitors. A more practical option is to take a UV Express minibus from Taft Avenue or Starmall in Las Piñas directly to Tagaytay — these run frequently during daylight hours.

If you are combining Tagaytay with a visit to the Taal lake shoreline, it is possible to continue down the volcano side of the ridge to Talisay by tricycle or hired car, then take a boat across the lake and back.
