Tagaytay has a serious food culture — partly because Manila weekenders demand good restaurants, and partly because the cool hilltop climate makes a long lunch or dinner genuinely pleasant. The Tagaytay Ridge highway is lined with restaurants from fast-food chains to upscale cliffside dining rooms. The two dishes you should eat here are bulalo (a clear, deeply beefy broth with bone marrow and soft-cooked vegetables) and tawilis (a tiny freshwater sardine found only in Taal Lake, usually deep-fried whole).
Budget options cluster near the Mahogany Market, which also has stalls selling grilled corn, strawberries grown in nearby highlands, and a chaotic variety of street snacks.
