Getting Around

The downtown is walkable — Plaza Pershing, the cathedral, the City Hall, Fort Pilar, and Paseo del Mar are all within twenty minutes of each other on foot. For anything further out, the workhorses are tricycles (motorcycle sidecars, agree the fare first — ₱30-100 depending on distance) and jeepneys (fixed routes, ₱15-20 a ride).

Conventional metered taxis exist but are less common than in Cebu or Manila. Grab is not available; the closest equivalent is Grab-style apps that occasionally have small fleets locally. For the airport, a tricycle from downtown is around ₱150-200; a private hotel transfer is more comfortable but four to five times that. Avoid moving around after dark in the outer barangays.
