Prince Faisal bin Fahd Grand Mosque

Khobar's largest mosque, a modern landmark on the Corniche

The Prince Faisal bin Fahd Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in Khobar, opened in 1995 on a prominent site overlooking the Corniche. Built in a deliberately modern interpretation of Najdi traditional architecture, with twin slender minarets, a large central dome and a vast paved courtyard, it can hold up to 7,500 worshippers.

The mosque is a familiar landmark and a useful orientation point on the seafront. Non-Muslim visitors are generally not admitted to the prayer hall but the exterior, particularly when floodlit at night, is photogenic. The Corniche walk passes the mosque on its eastern side; combine with a sunset stroll along the waterfront.
