The Castle of Urwah bin Zubair is a restored historic site on the western side of Medina, associated with Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, an important early Islamic scholar and member of a prominent companion family. The setting near Wadi al-Aqeeq gives the site a different feel from the dense pilgrimage core.
It is best treated as a short ziyarat stop for travellers already interested in Medina's early Islamic landscape. The attraction is the association and the restored fabric, not a large museum experience.
