The Arc

Bold riverfront cultural building by Asymptote Architecture at the meeting of Daegu's Nakdong and Geumho rivers.

The Arc is Daegu's futuristic river landmark, a gleaming curved structure set where the Nakdong and Geumho rivers meet. Designed by Asymptote Architecture, it looks more like a landed object than a conventional museum or pavilion.

The building works best with time on the surrounding riverside paths, especially around sunset when the metal skin and water pick up the changing light. It is a good counterweight to Daegu's markets and older urban core.
