Daegu's main natural draw is Mount Palgong on the northern outskirts, with Buddhist temples on its forested slopes and a cable car to the summit ridge. Donghwasa Temple, the most famous of Palgong's temples, has a colossal outdoor Buddha visible from afar. In the city, Seomun Market is one of Korea's oldest markets, Dongseongno is the main pedestrian shopping and café street, and Gyeongsang-gamyeong Park preserves a Joseon-era administrative compound in the city centre. Suseong Lake is the favoured evening walk for local families.
