Jebudo is a small island off Hwaseong on the west coast of Gyeonggi, close enough to Seoul and Suwon for a long day out. Its odd appeal is the tide road: twice a day the sea pulls back and a paved causeway appears across the flats, letting cars and walkers cross to the island.
The island is simple and seaside-focused. Jebu Beach, the coastal walkway, the fishing pier, and the rock formations at Maebawi are the main reasons to come, with seafood restaurants and snack stalls filling in the rest of the trip. Time your arrival carefully, because the road is covered when the tide returns.
Jebudo works best as a low-key coastal break rather than a polished resort. Come for the changing water, the mudflats, sunset over the Yellow Sea, and the strange pleasure of watching a road vanish under the tide.
