Suanbo is a small hot-spring town in the mountains of North Chungcheong, close to Jecheon, Chungju, and Woraksan National Park. It is not a big resort city. The mood is quieter: bathhouses, simple restaurants, forested ridges, and buses heading toward trailheads.
The draw is the combination. Suanbo Hot Springs gives the town its identity, with mineral water that has been part of the region's travel culture for centuries. Nearby Woraksan National Park supplies the hard mountain day, while Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park adds old gates, wooded paths, and a slice of Joseon road history.
Suanbo works best if you like a practical base more than a polished showpiece. Soak in the morning or evening, spend the main part of the day in the hills, and eat simply. It is a good one-day detour from central Korea, especially if you want a softer landing than a full mountain-town expedition.
