Chiayi Cheng Huang Temple is one of the city's important old religious sites, dedicated to the City God. Its position near the centre makes it an easy stop between Wenhua Road and the older streets east of the station.
The temple is best visited as part of a walk rather than as a single destination. Look for the carved and painted details, then step back outside into the dense ordinary city around it.
