Central Chiayi is walkable by Taiwanese city standards. The railway station, Wenhua Road, the museum district, and Hinoki Village can be linked on foot if the weather is kind.
For Chiayi Park, Lantan Lake, or the high-speed rail station, use local buses or taxis. Cycling is pleasant in the flatter western parts of the city, but traffic can be busy near the station and main roads.
