Chiayi Old Prison

Chiayi Old Prison is a rare surviving Japanese-era prison complex, built with timber corridors, guard sightlines, and a radial plan that makes discipline visible in the architecture. It is a sober stop, not a quirky one.

Visit for the building as much as the exhibits. The old cells and administrative spaces give a sharp contrast to the softer nostalgia of Chiayi's timber village and railway district.
