Lantan Lake, also called Holland Lake, sits east of central Chiayi near the start of the hillier country. It is a reservoir and scenic area rather than a wild lake, with waterside paths, open views, and a calmer feel than the city centre.
Come near sunset if you have spare time after the museums and night market. It is not Chiayi's main reason to visit, but it rounds out the city well.
