The Sun-Shooting Tower rises inside Chiayi Park, a modern landmark built with Indigenous-inspired imagery and an observation deck over the city. Its name refers to a Tsou legend, a useful reminder that the Alishan story is not only about railways and timber.
The tower is most worthwhile as part of a Chiayi Park walk. On clear days the view helps orient the city: low urban plain to the west, hills and the road toward Alishan to the east.
