Jiufen's eating scene is primarily street food and teahouses. The old street concentrates most of the snack vendors — taro balls, fish ball soup, peanut ice cream rolls — and the teahouses serve traditional Taiwanese gongfu tea with accompanying snacks. Proper sit-down restaurants are limited; most visitors graze along the old street and settle into a teahouse for an extended tea service. Come hungry and eat as you walk.
