Camoli Khujandi Museum

Museum dedicated to the 12th-century poet who put Khujand on the literary map

Camoli Khujandi (1405–1461) is the most famous poet to come from Khujand — a Sufi master whose ghazals in the classical Persian tradition made him one of the notable figures of Timurid literary culture. His name is everywhere in the city: the airport, the street, the mosque, and this small museum dedicated to his life and work.

The museum is modest by Western standards, but gives a good sense of the literary culture of Timurid Central Asia and Khujand's place within it. Manuscripts, calligraphy, miniature paintings, and objects from the period are displayed alongside translations and explanatory panels. It is often overlooked by visitors in favour of the fortress and the bazaar, which means you will likely have it to yourself — a pleasant contrast to the bustle outside.
