Sin Jiew is a covered food court in Trang's old town that has been serving Chinese-Thai food for several generations. The setting is functional rather than atmospheric — plastic tables, fluorescent lights, the usual food-court arrangement — but the food is excellent and very local. Dishes lean heavily on the Teochew Chinese traditions of the Hokkien immigrants who shaped southern Thai coastal cuisine.
The roast duck and pork dishes are the standouts, along with a selection of noodle soups and rice plates. Prices are low even by Thai standards. It's busiest at lunch; arrive early or be prepared to share a table.
