Trang is well connected by air, rail, and road, though it takes some effort to reach from Bangkok. The journey is part of the appeal: the further south you go, the fewer tourists you encounter.
By air. Nok Air and AirAsia operate daily flights from Bangkok's Don Mueang airport to Trang airport, about 7 km from the city centre. Flight time is roughly 1 hour 20 minutes.
By train. Overnight trains run from Bangkok's Hua Lamphong station to Trang, arriving the next morning after roughly 15 hours. Sleeper berths make the journey comfortable and save a night's accommodation.
By bus. Air-conditioned buses depart daily from Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai) and take around 12 hours. Minivans also connect Trang to Krabi, Surat Thani, and Hat Yai.
By car. From Bangkok, take Route 4 south through Chumphon and Surat Thani, then Route 403 via Huai Yot. The total distance is about 860 km. A more scenic alternative runs via Ranong and Krabi along the Andaman coast.
