Hat Pakmeng

Broad beach, clam harvesting, and boats to Ko Muk

This long, broad beach runs south from the village of Pakmeng. The water is not ideal for swimming, but the flat sandy shore is perfect for a stroll. In November the calm waters fill up with hawy thapao, a delicious local clam; at low tide, locals swarm onto the beach to collect the delicacy. Offshore, dramatic limestone formations rise from the sea. Hat Pakmeng is also the main pier for boats to Ko Muk and Ko Ngai.
