Wat Chana Songkhram, also known as the War Victory Temple, stands close to Khao San Road but feels much calmer than the streets around it. The temple is linked to the Mon community that settled here after fighting alongside Siamese forces in wars with Burma.
Travellers often cut through the grounds on the way between Khao San Road and Phra Athit Road, but the murals, bells, Buddha images and shaded trees make it worth slowing down.
