Wat Phra Borommathat

Wat Phra Borommathat is one of Kamphaeng Phet's oldest temples and one of the few major old monasteries here that is still active rather than a ruin. Its tall, gold-covered chedi, rebuilt in a Burmese Mon style in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, is visible from well beyond the temple grounds.

The compound is worth a stop for the contrast with the ruined temples of Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park. A small cultural centre in a traditional teak building adds a local-history angle, though English explanations may be limited.
