Hua Hin Railway Station

Hua Hin Railway Station is one of the most beautiful small railway stations in Southeast Asia. Built in the 1920s in a Thai-influenced wooden style, with a pointed roof pavilion in royal yellow and green, it has been meticulously maintained and is a delight to visit even if you are not travelling by rail.

The station is still active on the main Bangkok–Hat Yai southern line, and several trains per day stop here. The night train from Bangkok (around 11 hours) is a classic way to arrive — you can sleep in a berth and wake up as the train pulls into this handsome station. A small model railway installation on the platform entertains children.

A story
The station's Royal Waiting Room — a small pavilion to one side of the main platform, painted in yellow and green, with a steeply pitched Thai roof — was originally built at a different location for King Vajiravudh and relocated here. It was used by the royal family for generations as they arrived by train for their stays at Klai Kangwon Palace. The room is no longer in active use but is preserved as part of the station's heritage.
