Fethiye town is walkable — the harbour, old town, fish market, and Tomb of Amyntas are all within easy reach on foot. For the beach at Çalış, frequent dolmuş minibuses run from the centre; for Ölüdeniz, dolmuşes depart regularly from the minibus station.
For day trips to Saklıkent, Kayaköy, Tlos, and other sites, you can either join an organised tour (every travel agency in town sells them) or rent a car. Car hire is available in town and at Dalaman airport; rates are competitive by Turkish standards. Water taxis from the harbour connect Fethiye to Çalış beach and run seasonal services to other points around the bay.
