Bars and Cafes

The bar scene in Kuşadası is heavily oriented toward summer holiday-makers and clusters along Barlar Sokağı (Bar Street, officially Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Bulvarı) at the southern end of the Kaleiçi. It is loud, neon, and frankly chaotic on a July Saturday night.

For something quieter, the rooftop bars of the old town hotels — Liman, Villa Konak, and a few others — have pleasant terraces with sea views. The çay bahçesi (tea garden) at the foot of the Güvercinada causeway is a classic spot to watch the sun go down with a glass of Turkish tea. Several cafes along the marina serve good Turkish coffee and decent espresso; the best of them roast their own beans.
