Al Naseem is a long-running Emirati-style fish restaurant on the corniche, with plastic chairs, paper tablecloths, and a tank of live fish at the door. The format is simple: pick your fish — usually hammour, kingfish, or pomfret — choose how you want it cooked (grilled, fried, or stuffed with herbs and lemon) and it arrives 20 minutes later with rice, salad, and a stack of flatbread.
The crowd is mostly local families and groups of workers, and English is limited but everyone is patient. Prices are about a third of what you would pay in the hotel restaurants. The lemon mint juice is excellent and the small plates of pickled vegetables that arrive unbidden are addictive. Cash only.
