Bukhara is a no-frills Pakistani grill house in the old town behind the souk, popular with the city's large South Asian workforce and the smarter Emiratis who quietly know that the best food in RAK is not in the hotels. The menu is short: chicken karahi, mutton kebab, biryani, freshly baked naan from the tandoor at the door, and lassi to wash it down.
The chicken karahi — a tomato-and-ginger stew finished with green chillies and coriander — is the order. The room is bright, fluorescent-lit, and noisy; you sit on plastic chairs at formica tables and eat with your hands. A whole karahi for two with naan and drinks comes in under 60 dirhams. Open for lunch and dinner; expect a wait on Friday evenings.
