Navoi's own attractions are modest — the city was built for industry, not tourism. The real draws are in the surrounding region: the ancient town of Karmana with its Islamic monuments, the Sarmishsay gorge with its thousands of prehistoric petroglyphs, and the open desert steppe between Samarkand and Bukhara.
