Da Nang's signature dish is mì Quảng — wide turmeric-yellow rice noodles with pork, shrimp, and a distinctive herb garnish, served with a small amount of broth and a prawn cracker. It's different from the pho of Hanoi and the white rose dumplings of Hoi An. For a cheap, authentic bowl, look for the small family-run shops in the residential streets west of the centre.
The Con Market area has stalls selling bánh mì, bánh tráng cuốn thịt heo (rice paper rolls with pork), and grilled skewers. For seafood, the waterfront restaurants along Phạm Văn Đồng Street serve fresh catches at reasonable prices. The expat and tourist restaurant strip runs along Võ Nguyên Giáp Street near My Khe Beach.
