The Dakrong bridge spans the Dakrong river on Highway 9, around fifty kilometres west of Dong Ha on the way to Khe Sanh. It marks the point where the road forks south onto a branch of the old Ho Chi Minh Trail, and the original wartime bridge is preserved alongside the modern road bridge as a memorial. The mountain backdrop and the Van Kieu ethnic minority villages nearby make the stop more than a quick photograph.
