Roto House is one of Port Macquarie's best preserved timber homesteads, a weatherboard house from the late nineteenth century set in a pocket of forest near the Koala Hospital. The rooms are furnished to show how the Flynn family lived here, with wide verandahs, simple domestic details, and a strong sense of the town before the beach-holiday era.
It works well as a quiet stop before or after the koalas next door. The building is modest rather than grand, but that is part of the appeal: you get a grounded look at settler life on the mid-north coast, and the surrounding reserve makes the visit feel more like a stroll than a museum obligation.
