Sydney is blessed with dozens of ocean beaches, from the famous stretch of sand at Bondi to the quieter northern beaches around Avalon and Palm Beach. Manly, reached by ferry from Circular Quay, combines a surf beach with a sheltered harbour beach and a lively village atmosphere. The eastern beaches -- Bondi, Bronte, Coogee and Tamarama -- are connected by a spectacular coastal walk. All are patrolled by lifeguards in summer; always swim between the red and yellow flags.
