The Bondi Pavilion has anchored the beachfront since 1929, a long Mediterranean Georgian Revival building that was originally a grand changing pavilion with Turkish baths and a ballroom. After a contentious multi-year restoration it reopened in 2022 as a community and cultural centre, with an art gallery, a theatre, rehearsal and recording studios, a high terrace overlooking the sand, and cafes along the front.
It is the civic heart of the beach rather than a single attraction — somewhere to duck out of the sun, catch a free exhibition or performance, or simply use the terrace as a vantage point over the whole sweep of Bondi. The lawns in front host markets and events through the warmer months.
