Barangaroo Reserve

Barangaroo Reserve is a six-hectare headland park on the western edge of the CBD, opened in 2015 and planted with more than 75,000 native plants — returning the headland to something like its pre-colonial appearance for the first time in 200 years. The reserve occupies a rocky promontory north of Barangaroo's commercial development and offers views across the harbour to the Harbour Bridge from an angle most tourists never find.

The sandstone rocks along the water's edge have been carved with engravings reflecting Aboriginal heritage — Barangaroo was a Cammeraygal woman who was one of the key Aboriginal figures of the early contact period in Sydney, and the reserve is named in her honour. The walk around the headland takes about 30 minutes, and the western-facing position makes this one of the best spots in the CBD to watch the sun go down over the harbour.
