Elizabeth Bay House

Elizabeth Bay House is a colonial mansion built between 1835 and 1839 for Alexander Macleay, once Colonial Secretary of New South Wales. It was designed as one of the finest houses in the colony and preserves the domestic world of Sydney's wealthy early settlers.

The house is a useful counterpoint to the harbour and city-centre sights, especially if you are walking through Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay, or nearby Darlinghurst.
