Old Government House

Old Government House in Parramatta Park was the residence of early colonial governors and is part of the UNESCO-listed Australian Convict Sites. It is especially tied to Governor Lachlan Macquarie, whose building projects helped shape early colonial New South Wales.

The house is a good stop for travellers interested in Sydney beyond the harbour: furnished rooms, guided interpretation, and the park setting make the colonial history easier to read than it is in the modern city centre.
