One of the largest and most important collections of contemporary Chinese art anywhere in the world, housed in a converted Rolls-Royce service depot in the Chippendale backstreets. The gallery draws entirely on the private collection of Judith Neilson, focused on work made since 2000, and rehangs completely twice a year so there is always something new across its four floors.
Admission is free, the work is consistently bold and often large in scale, and there is a tea house on the ground floor for afterwards. It is the single best reason to make the trip to Chippendale, and a quietly remarkable thing to find behind a residential street.
