City Botanic Gardens

Heritage riverside gardens on a Brisbane River peninsula

Brisbane's original botanic gardens, established in 1855 on a peninsula where the Brisbane River bends back on itself near the city centre. The gardens contain palms, bamboo groves, mangrove boardwalks along the river, and a large open lawn. Free to enter. A popular lunchtime destination for city workers, and a pleasant starting point for a riverside walk west to South Bank.
